Developers

The following is a checklist to simplify the steps to any project development, within the Blue Ridge Rural Water Company (BRRWC) service area. Please note that a development is any division of property, to include summery plats, and subdivision plan reviews within the BRRWC service area.

STEP 1
The developer will provide BRRWC with a copy for the preliminary development plan. This plan can be a CAD File (DWG File in State Plane Coordinate System), PDF File, or paper plat (minimum size 11”x 17”).

STEP 2   BRRWC will conduct a Water Availability Assessment (Company Policy 1.0) and design a preliminary water supply plan for the development (Company Policy 2.0) in accordance with BRRWC’s Standard Specifications. BRRWC will provide the developer a written Estimate for Construction based on the preliminary development and supply plan.

TIMELINE   Typically this step will take 3 to 6 weeks, depending on the size of the project.

STEP 3
The developer will provide BRRWC with any modifications/changes to the preliminary development plan and BRRWC will adjust the Estimate for Construction based on these modifications. The Developer will complete all necessary State as well as County permitting and finalize the development plan.

STEP 4   The developer will pay the required BRRWC Final Design Fees (Engineering, SCDHEC Fees). BRRWC will finalize the development plan and acquire all needed construction permits to install the water line(s) and tap(s) for the project. These design fees are non-refundable.

TIMELINE  Typically this step will take 4 to 8 weeks to acquire construction permits, after developer has paid BRRWC the Final Design Fees.

STEP 5
The developer will pay the remaining balance of the project to BRRWC and the permitted line(s) and tap(s) will be installed by BRRWC or a contractor of BRRWC accordance with BRRWC’s Standard Specifications.

TIMELINE   Depending on the size of the project.

STEP 6
BRRWC will complete all the required testing and inspection of the newly installed line(s) and tap(s). BRRWC will obtain all needed final approvals and permits for the newly installed line(s) and tap(s) to be turned on.

TIMELINE   Typically this step will take 2 to 4 weeks to obtain all needed final approvals and permits, after the project is fully installed.
